Finding a good studio can be extremely difficult. There can be issues with consistent commitment, teaching and learning style, or location. Open classes, on the other hand, can be a much easier alternative— providing the rigour, fun, and experience without the need for commitment. Here are the 3 best open class studios (in my opinion) and why.

  1. Converge Studios

Converge is located near Dhoby Gaut MRT and hosts several daily open classes in many different dance genres. The location is convenient as its near Orchard and very close to an MRT station. I love the atmosphere of Converge everytime I go. Its dark walls and floors are great for a good video and all the instructors I've worked with have been extremely energetic and positive. The prices are quite affordable at around 10-15 dollars per class based on the package purchased.

  2. Legacy Dance Co

Danz People is in Marina Square and I personally love the location. Its tucked away at the back of the rooftop garden and there's a view of the entire CBD right outside. I haven't been to as many classes here as Converge but I have loved the energy of the instructors, the clean and big studios, and the convenience of booking online. You can buy and top up packages on their website anytime.

  3. Danz People

Danz People is located in the same mall as Legacy Dance Co. It is in the main mall building so it has a different atmosphere compared to Legacy. They have lots of open choreo classes which means they blend many different styles. This is great for a dancer like me who does ballet, contemporary dance, jazz, and hiphop. It's always exciting to go into an open choreo class. They have less classes daily compared to Converge, however.
